Michael Blackwood Barnes: Over 20 Years of Professional Camerawork:
I am a graduate of Newport Film School in Wales, with over twenty years of experience as a cameraman and director of photography.
Throughout my career, I have shot hundreds of projects for a diverse range of clients, spanning a wide variety of genres and formats. These include broadcast documentaries, music videos, feature films, third-sector content, advertising campaigns, corporate and commercial productions — and even party political broadcasts.

My work embraces a broad spectrum of subjects, methods, and styles, reflecting both versatility and a deep commitment to visual storytelling.
Clients have included: Universal, MTV, BBC, Channel4, ITV, SKY, NMETV, Sony Europe.
I have worked for the BBC and ITV as a self-shooting producer / PSC (Portable Single Camera) filming documentaries for broadcast.
I’m a great problem solver, can think outside the box, and endeavour to extract maximum value from subject, budget and schedule.
I love lighting drama and cinematic documentary, and enjoy collaborating closely with talented directors and producers to create the best possible outcome.
