Michael Blackwood Barnes: Over 20 Years of Video Editing Experience:
I’m a graduate of Newport Film School in Wales, with over twenty years of experience as a Video Editor.
I learnt NLE video editing in the late nineties on Avid media composer systems. At that time 50GB of storage would fill a large room and cost a small fortune.
I have been head technician at two facilities, preparing their Avid Systems for client use: Chapter Arts Centre & Swansea Met University.
I have edited: Multiple documentaries for Broadcast ITV & BBC – Online and Offline. Music videos for MTV & NMETV. Multiple short dramas and a feature film. I have cut promos and campaigns for corporate and commercial clients… even party political broadcasts.
With a wealth of technical and aesthetic experience to draw on, I can contribute ideas that work. I can problem solve efficiently.
I always respect budget and schedule and can cut quickly when required.
I enjoy collaborating closely with talented directors and producers to create the best possible outcome.
Editing Skillset:
I currently use FCPX and Da Vinci Resolve as my main NLE/colouring suites but can also use Avid and Adobe Premiere Pro competently.

- Excellent track-laying skills.
- Can prepare audio stems for export to dubbing theatres.

- Able to complete projects in house: Grade image, visual effects, mix complex audio for online delivery at broadcast standards.
